Water damage in Fort Lauderdale doesn’t wait for a convenient moment, and neither does our crew. The people who show up at your door are the same people who answer when you call, text you photos of the drying progress, and walk your adjuster through what we found. We’re a local crew of restoration techs, project leads, and coordinators who live and work in Broward County. Most of us have been doing this long enough to know that a flooded living room on a Tuesday night in Victoria Park is stressful, but it’s also fixable. We’re here to make the fix as straightforward as possible.
Our People
Marcus T. – Lead Water Damage Technician
Marcus has been with Wendell Restoration Fort Lauderdale for nine years and leads most of the water mitigation jobs we run from Plantation to Pompano Beach. He’s IICRC-certified in Water Damage Restoration and Applied Structural Drying, which means he’s the one who calculates how many air movers and dehumidifiers a space actually needs, based on the room’s cubic footage and the moisture readings from the walls, not just a guess. Before restoration, Marcus did commercial HVAC work, so he has a near-religious belief in proper airflow. On weekends he’s usually fishing off the Dania Beach pier, and he’ll tell you the snook bite has been better than the weather reports suggest if you ask.
Jordan R. – Senior Mold Remediation Specialist
Jordan handles the containment setups and remediation protocols on mold jobs across Fort Lauderdale, including the older condo buildings along Galt Ocean Mile where humidity and aging drywall make mold a recurring problem. She holds IICRC Applied Microbial Remediation Technician certification and has been with the company for six years. Jordan’s specialty is figuring out how far moisture has traveled behind baseboards and under flooring before anyone opened the wall up, which is usually farther than it looks. She grew up in Fort Lauderdale and can tell you which buildings near Las Olas have recurring riser leaks because she’s remediated several of them. She keeps a dehumidifier running in her own garage as a matter of principle.
Elena V. – Service Coordinator & Client Liaison
Elena is the voice you’ll likely hear first when you call. She’s been answering phones and coordinating dispatch for the team for four years, and she’s the reason a live person picks up at 2 a.m. when a water heater lets go in Coral Ridge. Elena tracks every job from the first call through the final walkthrough, sends the photo updates and arrival times by text, and makes sure the written price estimate goes out before any work begins. She’s fluent in Spanish, which helps with a good portion of our Fort Lauderdale clients, and she’s known for telling people the honest truth: what can wait until morning, and what can’t. When she’s not coordinating crews, she’s running half marathons along A1A.
Devon P. – Restoration Apprentice & Equipment Specialist
Devon joined the crew two years ago after working in commercial facilities maintenance in Davie, and he’s training under Marcus and Jordan on drying techniques, moisture mapping, and equipment placement. He’s responsible for tagging, tracking, and maintaining the Dri-Eaz, Phoenix, XPOWER, B-Air, and Injectidry equipment that goes out on every job, so the gear arrives clean and calibrated. Devon is the one who double-checks that every dehumidifier is running at spec before it leaves the shop and logs the moisture readings at each stage of a job. He’s originally from Tallahassee and still talks about how humidity in Fort Lauderdale is a different animal entirely. He’s working toward his IICRC Water Restoration Technician certification this year.
Restoration work we handle

One Standard, Every Job
Every person on this crew works to the same three standing promises, and they’re not optional. The written price before any work starts, so you know the number before we unload a single piece of equipment. The 365-Day Done Right Promise, in writing on every repair, which says if it’s not done right, we make it right, within a full year. And the free second visit if the repair fails, because a callback shouldn’t cost you anything when we missed something. Marcus, Jordan, Elena, and Devon all follow the same IICRC, RIA, and IFA-standard practices on every job, and they all know Blake’s rule: you don’t leave a house until the moisture readings say it’s dry, not just until the carpet feels dry to the touch. That’s the Relay Standard, and it’s the only way we know how to work.
Who Owns Wendell Restoration Fort Lauderdale?
The owner is Blake Sorensen, and he’s been with Wendell since the company was founded in 2006. Blake still shows up on job sites, not just in the office. He’s the one who’ll tell you a one-inch puddle under the kitchen sink is a repair, not a rebuild, and that you probably don’t need half the drywall replaced just yet. Then he’ll walk you through the psychrometric drying process (tracking the air’s moisture level so we know when the structure is truly dry, not just surface-dry) so you understand exactly what the crew is doing and why. Blake has a dry sense of humor about Fort Lauderdale’s rainy season, but he takes moisture readings and warranty paperwork very seriously. That balance is what he expects from everyone on this page, and it’s what you’ll get when we show up.
